Ben flew overseas on 'Unconditional Surrender' a flight on which they carried live pigeons in case the radio failed. He described his job as Radio Operator 'every day we received number code booklets that were changed every day to confuse the Germans'. He was discharged in October 1945 afterwards working for the Armour Food Co as an account executive for 39 years.
