ENGLAND-Preparing to take off on the first 8th AAF Fighter Command Shuttle mission to Russia is Lt. Robert P Kenyon, [ Detroit, MI ]. The long range North American P-51 Mustang fighters took off from their British bases, escorted the heavy bombers over Germany and then landed in Russia. On the wing is Pvt later Sgt Ben Reizen [ Troy NY ].
