Served overseas from 11 December 1944 to 4 June 1945. 2nd Lt. Arthur W. Laughlin served as copilot on the William Costanzo Crew flying B-17s w/ the 398th BG, 601st BS based at Nuthampsted, England (station 131). He flew 26 missions over Germany & his tour ran from 11 December 1944 to 2 June 1945. He was awarded the Air Medal w/ 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ 3 Battle Stars (Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland). 'We checked out a new B-17 at Hunter Field in Savannah, Ga. Flew it over to Stone, England. Then by truck to Nuthampsted. When we left England we flew a B-17 with 20 men including all of our crew except Lt. Marabeas, who was shot down on his last mission. We returned via Iceland, BW3 Greenland, Grenier Field, NH to Westover Field, MA. Where we left the plane. ' Lt. Laughlin served in the reserve for 10 years. 'Didn't get planes to fly so became inactive. Discharged in 1955. 'FROM: letter accompanying license plate. Costanzo Crew: William H. Costanzo, pilot; Arthur W. Laughlin, copilot; Dennis N.
