Shot down 25 February 1944 in B-17G #42-37786. Killed in Action (KIA)the mission was to Augeburg, Germany. Flew 16 missions on Herrington and Henderson's crew. Mission dates were December 11, 13, 31, 1943; January 4, 5, 21, 24, 29, 30, 1944; February 5, 11, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 1944. Story of Sergeant Korkuc can be found in book 'Finding A Fallen Hero: The Death of a Ball Turret Gunner published in March 2008
