MilitaryRTD. Plane took off from base, assigned to target Poix, France. During instrument climb to assembly altitude. Lt. Chamberlain flew into heavy prop wash while in cloud. The B-24 went into a slight climb followed by a steep dive. Pilot pulled out of the dive and then fell off into a spin, the tail assembly broke off and the A/C broke up and at 0915 hours crashed at Walnut Tree Farm, Benacre, Suffolk. Plane was B-24J #42-100363.
