Alfred A Johnson
Military ROLL OF HONOURLWG, Pry crew. 381st BG, 532nd BS. Shot down 8 October 1943 in B-17 #42-30009 'Feather Merchant'. Mission #36 to the shipyards at Bremen, Germany. MACR 1397. S/Sgt Johnson had claimed a fighter kill during the mission. Killed in Action (KIA). S/Sgt Johnson's parachute opened in the aircraft. Crew reports state he appeared to freeze inside the aircraft and refuse to jump. It is unknown if he eventually bailed out and possibly had a damaged parachute. One body was found inside the aircraft by the Germans but it was suspected to be S/Sgt Smith (BTG).
