MilitaryAssigned July 1944. In December 1944 he became the first to finish 60 missions. His first tour included flying as gunner or "Fertile Myrtle II" during the African shuttle.
Silver Star; Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with nine clusters, Purple Heart, the ETO ribbon with 4 stars and the Presidential Citation with a cluster
