The last known whereabouts of B-24 #44-40294, 'Slossie,' was 10 mi NE of Yarmouth. Comment by last eyewitness, 2nd Lieutenant Daniel J. Meehan: 'Ship #294 took off just ahead of me. It went into the undercast and I never saw it again. There were no messages picked up by radio. ' Missing were: Pilot Edward J. Speers, CP William H. Moran, Nav. Robert K. Rouse, Eng. James R. Byars, Radio Op Robert M. Dickey, WGs Albert J. Clark and Robert A. Dittmarr, TG William A. Morris.
