Capt. Albert G. Jennings



Served in the 366th Fighter Group, 390th Fighter Squadron. Shot down while strafing trucks in Germany. Had completed his tour and had flown 120 missions, and was awaiting orders to return to the States. He volunteered to lead the mission. After learning that Capt. Jennings had been shot down, Captain G. Wilcox, 390th S-w, noted in his report: "He was an exceptional pilot and a dedicated leader. He was well liked and respected by all those who flew with him." (The War We Fought, page 83). In the same mission, 2nd Lt. Lester L. Swanke was killed. Thereafter, pilots who had completed their tours were grounded. Buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Texas.
