Fields of Williamstown, Mo. proudly displays his Silver Star and Purple Heart which he was awarded while a patient at the 52nd General Hospital at Kidderminster, England. Sgt. Fields, a member of the 384th Bomb Group, received severe injuries when a 20 mm shell burst, and tore off his oxygen mask while on a mission over enemy territory. 28 November 1943."
