A YB-40 B-17 Flying Fortress of the 92nd Bomb Group at Bassingbourn. Official caption on image: "A-69325 A.C." Handwritten caption on reverse: '91BG.' Printed caption on reverse: '69325 - Boeing YB-40's, some of the Boeing B-17s converted under direction of the Air Technical Service Command into bomber-fighters, parked at the 91st Bomb Group base in Bassingbourne[sic], England. Extra guns were installed in these planes when an attempt was made in late 1942 to provide fighter protection to bombers flying into Central Europe. 15 May 1943.'
