Aircraft had landed at RAF Molesworth to pick-up personnel and transport them to Africa (Green Project).



This station was in the process of being abandoned and the ground markings were not being maintained.



While taxing on the perimeter strip, the left main landing gear tire slipped off the edge of the track and dropped into an unmarked drainage ditch.



#2 propeller and engine damaged.
