44-40126 Spitt'en Kitten ; Sky Tramp

On this ship's only mission with the 492nd, the crew experienced internal problems resulting in an onboard fire. They had to abort the mission 100 miles inside enemy territory.

Interesting note: A German ME-210 escorted the plane back to the channel without firing on it.

Transferred from the 492nd BG to the 458th BG during the J for H trade for PROJECT AZON. At this time we don't know which plane replaced this one. Its only 492nd mission was flown on 19 May 44 and its first 458th mission was on 2 Jun 44.

Renamed" SKY TRAMP" after transferring to the 458th BG.
