Pilot Edward Lightfoot crash belly landed P-47M 44-21159 on 21 January 1945 at Boxted, due to a mechanical failure. The aircraft was lost on 13 March 1945 when it was involved in a mid-air collision with P-47M 44-21115 over Stowmarket. Pilot Richard Tuttle was killed.
