P51, serial number 43-6824. It was a P-51B-5-NA. (NA indicates it was built at the parent North American plant at Long Beach California).
It was delivered at the factory, to USAAF, on 26 November 1943. Two days later it was transferred to the Daggett Modification Center (200 miles from Long Beach), and left there on the 7th January 1944, for Newark NJ, departing there by sea on the 14th.
It arrived in England and was assigned to the 8th air force on 28th January 1944. After assembly and testing, it was ferried from the big depots in Northern England, down to Leiston and the 357th Fighter Group. It survived the war and went to Germany at the end of the fighting where it was salvaged for non-battle damage on the 18th January 1945.
