42-52509 was an original a/c of the 466th BG. She flew on the group's first mission and survived through the 11 September 1944 mission at which time the 466th BG was taken off combat operations to fly the "Truckin" gas haul missions through the balance of Sept. It's likely that 42-52509 was used on these missions and then retired from combat as was the case on many of the long serving 466th BG aircraft.
