No. 42-338 was the DOTTIE J III, 96th BG, 337th BSQN, Snetterton Heath. This crew photo is not the crew of the DOTTIE J III. I know this because my Father-in-law John Malik was the Co-Pilot of the DOTTIE J III and we have his crew photo. He is not in this photo above.

Delivered Denver 23/5/43; Dow Fd 26/6/43; Assigned 337BS/96BG [AW-G] Snetterton 12/7/43; Missing in Action Schweinfurt 14/10/43 with Raymond Bye, Pilot: Navigator, Merle Woodside, Radio Operator: Ken Nice, Waist gunner: Mike Olynik (4 evaded capture); Co-pilot: John Malik, Bombardier: Bill Kieran, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Gerard Caporaso, Ball turret gunner: Fred Holt, Waist gunner: Chas Gattman,Tail gunner: Alton Baer (6 Prisoner of War); on return was shot down by enemy aircraft, crash landed Thiacourt-Regnieville, 17 miles SW of Metz, Fr. Missing Air Crew Report 833. DOTTIE J III.
