Lt. Glenwood A Zarnke, 363rd Fighter Squadron. P-51D 44-15630 B6-L “Junior Miss II”. This a/c was lost on 9 February 1945 when Capt. James W Browning was killed in a mid-air collision.
Assigned to 363FS, 357FG, 8AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) escort mission to Bohlen. Witnesses in Woersdorf saw Browning’s P-51D converge on the Me-262 jet of Oberstleutnant Freiherr Von Riedsel, then collide with it. Both burst into flames and spun in, the Mustang landing near a train station and the Me 262 falling some 600 meters away. Capt James W Browning was killed in the mid-air collision. 9-Feb-45.
