Military ROLL OF HONOURCo-pilot, Winter crew. 381st BG, 532nd BS. Bailed out along with 2LT Taormina (Nav), 2LT Morgan (Bom) and T/Sgt Teal (ETTG) after a 20mm shell exploded in the cockpit, wounding the pilot, starting a fire and causing the aircraft to go out of control. The pilot was only stunned and regained control of the aircraft, put on the automatic pilot and extinguished the fire in the rear of the cockpit. He was able to land at different base. Mission #37 to the aircraft factories at Anklam, Germany. Killed in Action (KIA). Buried in the Ardennes AMC.
