Unit historian for the 445th Bomb Group. My father (Capt Leland S. Simpson Sr) was the group bombardier when the 445th flew over to England in November, 1943. He flew 38 missions with the unit, mostly as a lead crew bombardier. I am a former member of US Army Special Forces, and served in Vietnam. My son has had multiple tours in both "sandboxes".
