Hollie Ray Lovvorn
MilitaryLt Hollie R. Lovvorn was piloting B-17G #42-37924 when it crashed upon landing at Little Staughton on return from a training mission on 9 January 1944. The right landing gear had failed to lower. Returned to duty. His Fortress B-17 #42-31606 was shot down by Flak over Doullens, France on a mission to Berlin on 4 March 1944. Lovvorn bailed out North of Amiens, France, was captured and made a Prisoner of War (POW). After interrogation, he was sent to Germany and interned at Stalag Luft 1, Barth, Germany.
