Glesner Werkbacher served with the 4th Fighter Group between 1942 and 26 August 1945. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 April 1943.

He participated in Operation FRANTIC II, the Russia Shuttle mission, June - July 1944.

This was because the aircraft was modified to take a second seat for a radar operator, with antenna fitted on the wing and was the personal machine for Colonel Stewart, dated June 1945."
