Gerard Sullivan took part in Operation Tidal Wave, the raid on the Ploesti oil fields, Rumania, on 1 August 1943, serving as Waist Gunner on B-24 Liberator #41-23810 "Tarfu".
He was Right Waist Gunner on B-24D #42-41004 “The Urgin' Virgin” which was lost in the North Sea on the 13 November 1943 mission to Bremen, Germany, with all 11 men onboard still missing. Killed In Action (KIA).
