Wayne Fox served with the 446th Bomb Group out of Bungay, England. He then transferred to the 482nd Bomb Group, a Pathfinder Group, which trialed new uses of radar on missions. On 30 November 1944, he was transferred to the 384th Fighter Squadron of the 364th Bomb Group. On 22 January 1945, he was again transferred to the 555th Fighter Training Squadron of the 496th Fighter Training Group.
He ended the war, still as a First Lieutenant, as part of the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron.
