Crashed at Berlin on 9/12/44 in B-17 'Belle of the Brawl' #42-31690, Prisoner of War (POW). He was on his 5th mission. His plane was hit by fighters and flak. Took a hit in the cockpit and whole cockpit on fire. He was captured immediately. He had facial burns.
