Shot down 29 May 1944 in B-17 #4297314 'Pop. ' Landed in Sweden. Interned.
Whilst interned he helped put crashlanded USAAF aircraft back into flying state.
He was, apparently, reluctant to leave as he was being paid Base pay and Flying pay by the USAAF and also receiving a wage from the Swedes in relation to his work.
