On 15 Sept 1943, Frye undershot runway on landing on training flight to Ford at Susses in P-47 #42-8503, RTD.
On 19 March 1945, in very bad weather conditions, he crashed into North Sea in P-51 'Ginny' #44-14706 and perished. His name is recorded on the Tablets of the Missing at Cambridge American Cemetery. MACR #13168
Credited with one aerial victory on March 3, 1945.
