Notes: A mix of 140 P-47s and P-51s provide escort for this mission. Mix not given in available data. The 20th Fighter Group was attacked by a single ME-262 jet aircraft which recorded the kill of a single P-51. After the ME-262 shot down the P-51 it then attacked the bomber stream, but a mixed formation of P-51s and P-47s swarmed the ME-262. A P-47 pilot of the 56th Fighter group and Lts. Gerbe and Groce of the 352nd Fighter group, flying P-51s shared credit for the ME-262 kill.
