IMAGEAn airman of the 323rd Bomb Group in the cockpit of a B-26 Marauder named, Black Fury. Handwritten caption on reverse : WT, 323BG. AFM. The front section of the aircraft is shown with its Plexiglas nose, which was the bombardier's compartment. The Norden Bombsight, a significant technological advancement, which was a closely guarded war secret, was positioned directly in front of the bombardier. When the aircraft were not on a combat mission, the Norden bombsights were maintained in a separate, locked building with restricted access. The open windows are the roof of the cockpit or flight deck cabin. The crew entered the cabin and bombardier's compartment through the nose wheel compartment door . Note : Based solely on the notation above, this B-26 Marauder would be, WT-J, 41-34777, Black Fury, of the 456th Bomb Squadron.
