Assigned to the 544th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), per 544th Bomb Squadron Unit History, effective 31 December 1942.  Ditched in Atlantic on flight From Gander, Newfoundland, to England on 10 June 1943. Rescued by a Canadian minesweeper and returned to Presque Isle, Maine. Completed the deployment to England on an ATC C-54.  Killed in Action (KIA). Shot down 25 July 1943 in B-17 42-29670.
