John Wesley Crowley
MilitaryJohn Crowley was Right Waist gunner on B-17G #42-38033 "Man O'War", shot down by fighters on return from the 20 March 1944 mission to Frankfurt. Hit in the lungs and stomach by 20mm shells, he bailed out above Breuil, France. Immediately captured, he was brought to the Hôpital Américain in Reims, where he died from his wounds the following day. He was buried on 24 March at the West Cemetery in Reims, France. Prisoner of War (POW)-Died of wounds (DOW).
