MACR 3808
Shot down 11 April 1944 in B-17 #42-3322 'Full House'. Plane crashed into Baltic. Was hit by fighters and the pilot ordered the crew to ditch. Burkland stayed at his guns and was just making his way to the radio room when the plane broke in half. He and 3 others were knocked out by the impact and were trapped in the plane which sank in less than a minute. Others were captured. Killed in Action (KIA).
