About an hour after bombs away, B-17 #42-97387 was observed to be involved in a mid-air collision with B-17 #43-38697 (of 603rd BS) on the 3 February 1945 mission to Berlin. Missing in Action with Pilot John R. McCormick, Bombardier/Togglier: William G. Logan (2 Prisoners of War-Logan later killed by friendly fire on a forced march), Co-pilot: William Feinstein, Navigator: Ray R. Woltman, Flight engineer/Top Turret gunner: Marvin L. Gooden, Radio Operator: Joseph F. Stritch, Ball turret gunner: Reynaldo Gracia, Right Waist gunner: William F. Garner, Tail gunner: Jack B. Withrow (7 Killed in Action). Both ships crashed near Lehmke, Germany. Missing Air Crew Report for 97387 = MACR 12214. MAUDE AN' MARIA.
