Cozart – ‘at 1220-1223 shortly after target (perhaps 10 min) a B-24 with a large C and the letter E was seen to fall with both rudders off, and its bomb bay on fire. It then exploded. 1 crew reported that the A/C was believed hit by a rocket. 2-3 chutes reported by several crews, and another crew reported 7 chutes.’ Capt. Ware.” A/C exploded 1-Dec-43; shot down. 6 x POW, 4 x KIA. MACR 2500
