Mallos was killed on board by Flak during the 7 January 1944 mission to Ludwigshafen (KIA) ] Missing in Action on its 35th mission, to Augsburg, Germany, on 13 April 1944. Pilot Morris F. Swavel, Co-pilot Wilmer R. Goldinger, Navigator Theodore R. Lipchitz, Bombardier Philip W. Wade, Engineer/Top Turret gunner Alec Gwazdosky, Radio Operator Frank C. Bobrowicz, Ball Turret gunner Daniel J. Miller, Left Waist gunner William L. Walker, Right Waist gunner Robert J. Gibbs, Tail gunner James T. O’Brien (10 Killed in Action). Hit by Flak above Brussels on return from the mission. Fell out of formation and was last seen at about 10,000ft, leaving the Belgian coast near Ostend.
