Failed To Return - A/C shot down during 1st Aug 43 Ploesti raid. Hit by flak in #2 and #3 engine, it struck a chimney of Astra, then had a force landing, South-East of Ploiesti near Trestieni village. 10 POW. MACR 177.
'Boiler Maker II' was recovered / repaired and flown by the Romanian air force and eventually strafed and set on fire by German Bf 109G's when Romania changed sides later in the conflict. 26th August, 1944.
