Delivered Tulsa 7/2/44; Hunter 4/3/44; Grenier 7/4/44; Assigned 603BS/398BG [N7-M] Nuthampstead 21/4/44; 602BS [K8-M]; (60m) Missing in Action Merseburg 2/11/44 with Russell Reed, Co-pilot: Dick Wanserski, Navigator: Stan Mates, Bombardier: Chas Proctor, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Alphonse Grothues, Radio Operator: Mike Barnes, Ball turret gunner: Darrell Thorpe, Waist gunner: September Krizek,Tail gunner: George Barnum (9 Prisoner of War); Aircraft sustained flak damage causing the No 1 engine to shut down and No 2 was drawing half power, then attacked by a FW-190 which caused the aircraft to catch on fire, crashed Kreudnitz, near Leipzig, Ger; Missing Air Crew Report 10158.
