Object Number - UPL 80069 - B-24 42-52225 'Hot Rocks' 'Moo Juice'

Shot down on 19 March 1944, with Aubrey Edwards and crew. 

Edwards' regular aircraft wasn't serviceable so opted to use 42-52225) even though one of the engines was operating at less than 100%. Returning to San Giovanni after bombing their target in Steyr, Austria, they were attacked by a group of Messerschmitt 109’s led by 2nd Lt Franz Stigler. Three of the crew were KIA. Two evaded capture and five other members became POW’s.
