On this day, my father's second mission, he navigates for Pilot Stacy Tavis this time in the 335th BS flying to Brunswick. During the return, the "Paisano", aircraft number 42-102450, Pilot R. Duncan encounters turbulent prop wash and looses position in the flight, collides with "Aunt Callie's Baby" which had fallen back from it's proper position. The result of the collision is complete failure of the tail section of Paisano and severe damage to the trailing edge of Aunt Callie's Baby. All crew on Paisano were KIA. All crew on 42-102450 survived the emergency landing back in England. Lt. Stacy Tavis did not return to the cockpit following this mission. Aunt Callie's Baby is renamed Lucky Lady.
