I’m part of a small dedicated team of volunteers in UK and US organizing a permanent memorial for the 80th anniversary of this crash on November 10, 2023. One of the worst aviation crashes in Suffolk county, England. Killing all 13 crew and 4 civilians. If enough funds are raised for a permanent memorial with enough to spare, our ongoing research on the 13 airmen and 4 civilians will be made into a booklet. Project will be adjusted according to amount raised. My connection to this project and co-pilot John Edmund Russell: Jack was a close family friend in Baldwin, New York. I have his extraordinary letters sent from England to New York in 1942-1943. His stories told to me throughout the years and his letters inspired my research and serendipitously led to this project after meeting the local historians and WWII researchers that now form the project team!  Any researchers interested in knowing more about this Pathfinder copilot and assisting with specific research for him but primarily his crew, please contact me. Looking for his ops for his last assignment 482 BG 813 BS which was just a few weeks. He might  have more than the 39 mentioned in a letter from the US Army to his father, who put in a request after the war. We have his ops for RAF 57. Note His name is mentioned in several books with photos.
