1689th Ordnance Supply & Maintenance Company

Company

Redesignated 1689th Ordnance Supply & Maintenance Company on 23 November 1942, moved to Warrington to work at BAD 2, Burtonwood.



On 29 January 1943 moved by motor convoy to Drinkstone Manor, near Bury St Edmunds. On 26 March 1943 from Bristol to Stone, Straffordshire 19 April.



On 3 May 1943, a detachment of 23 men was sent to Prestwick, Scotland the balance back to Melchbourne Park, they were reunited with the parent company in August , in time for their first anniversary overseas (4 months late) at the Manor Hall.



On 13 September 1943 the unit were transferred to VIII Bomber Command, and assigned to the 3rd Bomb Division to work with the 390th Bomb Group. The unit developed from motor-maintenance to armament, ammunition, maintenance, supply and headquarters sections.



Redesignated the 673th Air Materiel Squadron and assigned to 423rd Air Service Group, 15 April 1945,
