Advance Ammunition Parks used by the RAF were often enlarged to include USAAF munitions. These dumps which might exploit natural cave systems or dense woodland, also included concrete structures as a means of protection.
Some were also used to store poison gas bombs or chemical weapons.
Barnham had a number of satellite sites such as Warren Wood and Little Heath.
