Crash site of B-17 43-39068, 487th Bomb Group, 838th Bomb Squadron.



The crash, from which the eight crew members of the B-17 miraculously came out unscathed, happened on the afternoon of January 8, 1945. Returning from a mission over Germany and suffering from engine failure, the bomber was brought down by the pilot in Nelson Park just before 2pm.
