A P-47 Thunderbolt (serial number 42-28875) and a C-47 Skytrain (90-M, serial number 42-100806) of the 437th Troop Carrier Group at A-80 Mourmelon-le-Grand, September 1944. Image via John Quincy. Brand new P-47 42-28875 in basic theatre markings. It would soon become 4P-F “Bonnie Lynn” in the 513th FS, 406th Fighter Group, and would be shot down on 12 April 1945. It never made it to R-56.
