On 21 April 1944, B24J 42-99979, Kentucky Baby, crashed during assembly. 8 crewmen died, 2 were injured, but returned to duty. This memorial was dedicated in May 2010.

    Killed in Action (KIA) 21 April 1944 in AC #4299979. Airplane crashed in heavy weather. Mission to Zwickau recalled after ships were airborne due to weather. According to, the name of the Liberator was "Kentucky Baby."
