On 14 November 1944, two US Navy Air Force pilots, based at Coltishall, were chasing down a V1 rocket in their Mosquito. Apparently, they were hit by friendly fire, although there is disagreement about this. Both pilots were killed.

Detailed History

On November 14th, Lt Joseph Francis Black Jr and Lt Thomas Newkirk Aiken, based at Coltishall, were chasing down a V1 rocket in their Mosquito. Apparently, they were hit by friendly fire, although there is some disagreement about this. These men were USNAF Personnel.
