Military

While assigned temporarily to fly out of North Africa, on February 25, 1943, B-24 #41-23740 'Red Ass' was forced to land in Spanish Morocco. The crew was interned. Chapter 10 of Ted's Travelling Circus chronicles their adventures in this incident. He was freed March 22, 1943.



Took part in Operation Tidal Wave, the raid on Ploesti on 1 August 1943, flying B-24 Liberator (serial number 41-24298) nicknamed "Queenie".
