First Lieutenant Herbert I. Turner, Jr., was born January 14, 1920. His next of kin were his wife, Lee Turner, and his parents, Herbert, Sr., and Mary Turner.
He was the Pilot aboard “Ascend Charlie,” B-17 tail #42-5903 of the 390th Bomb Group, 571st Bomb Squadron. On return from a mission to France on September 16, 1943, the bomber become lost in bad weather, and crashed into a mountain near Brecknoch, Wales.
All aboard were killed.
He is buried in the US Military Cemetery at Cambridge, England.
