Shot down on 16 February 1943 in B-17F 42-5058 'The Hun Hunter' while serving as Radio Operator. Aircraft was shot down by fighters on return from a mission to St. Nazaire, France. No burial record could be located . It is probably that he baled out of the aircraft over water and was lost in the sea. Killed in Action (KIA).
