Harley N Riesgaard
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
Harley was employed on the family farm when he enlisted in February 1944. After completing gunnery school he joined up with his crew at Savannah before shipping overseas. He flew on 34 combat missions from Deopham Green, his most memorable a raid on Frankfurt when they lost three engines out of four. They dumped as much as possible, flew low and the pilot managed to belly-land in a wheat field in France.
